SMALL CHANGES CAN MAKE A BIG DIFFERENCE

There’s a lot we can learn when we slow down and pay attention to what kids are telling us.

We created this space to share what we’re learning, along with helpful information, practical tools and trusted resources for anyone looking to better understand and support the children in their lives.

FEATURED RESOURCES

  • FAMILY & COMMUNITY INFORMATION BOOKLET

A guide to Chickadee N.E.S.T. for families and community members, with information about our approach, programs, schedules, supports and fees. It also explains what to expect when joining Chickadee, including registration, school coordination and getting ready for a child’s first day.

  • GETTING TO KNOW ME

A two-page, child-centred profile that helps adults understand a child’s interests and strengths, how they connect best, what can make things harder, and the kinds of support that help. Families can complete it with their child and share it with teachers, caregivers, coaches, program staff or other supportive adults.

  • PARTICIPATION CAN LOOK DIFFERENT

A one-page resource that explores the different ways children can participate, learn, connect and belong. It includes examples of what participation can look like, questions to consider when a child seems disengaged, and ideas for making participation more flexible and accessible.
