GETTING STARTED AT CHICKADEE

Every child comes to us with different interests, strengths and needs.

Our registration process helps us get to know the child before they start. Once you submit a request, our team will reach out to answer questions and walk you through the next steps.

HOW TO REGISTER

  • The online form takes about 5 to 10 minutes. Before you start, have your child’s contact details, health information, and anything else you’d like us to know ready.

  • Fill out the form to tell us a bit about your child and the schedule you’re looking for.

  • Our team will look over your form to make sure we have everything we need.

  • Our Program Director, Caitlin, will reach out to learn more about what you’re looking for and make sure Chickadee programs are the right fit for your child’s needs.

  • Once your spot is confirmed, we’ll email you a welcome package with essential info and consent forms to fill out.

  • We’ll send an invoice for your program fees. Your child’s spot at Chickadee is confirmed once payment is received.

  • You’re all set! We’ll confirm the child’s start date and stay in touch. Parents and caregivers are welcome to join them on their first day (or longer) if your child needs extra time to settle in.

FEES AND FINANCIAL SUPPORT

We want to keep Chickadee programs as accessible as possible.

Grants and community partnerships, including funding through Unity for Autism, can help cover program fees and 1:1 support costs. Every family who applies is considered for financial assistance. We’ll let you know what funding options are available when you sign up. Have questions about funding or financial assistance? Contact us to learn more.

ONE-ON-ONE SUPPORT

Some children need additional support to participate safely and comfortably.

When 1:1 support is needed, we work with families to determine what that support could look like. Dedicated support depends on staff availability and involves an extra fee on top of regular N.E.S.T. program costs.

    Chickadee N.E.S.T.

    A free drop-in program where youth in Yellowknife can hang out with new  friends and explore their passions in a safe, supportive space. Participants take the lead by planning projects based on their own skills and interests.

    Full-day programming that follows the familiar daily rhythm of our N.E.S.T. program, with a balance of calm, structured indoor time in the morning, and afternoons spent outside in nature and exploring the community.
